For countless
generations, gallant men and women around the world have taken up arms whenever their homeland was in peril. This website’s
objective is to honour the sacrifices that they made. It is not an attempt to glorify war – which is a final, desperate
and inevitably futile measure taken when diplomacy has failed.
By
reliving past battles – through stories, books, films, visits to battle sites, and attendance at commemorative ceremonies
– we can perhaps put an end to global conflict by recognizing that the only winners in battle are the war merchants
who gorge on human suffering.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
